I could not find out much about this particular car, but there is a car one number lower, 5998, at the Museum of Transportation, and here is the description: GULF, MOBILE & OHIO #5998 Parlor-Observation Lounge 1935 Builder:American Car & Foundry Round-end observation; aluminum-bodied car; used on B&O Royal Blue 1935- 1937, then on Alton/GM&O Abraham Lincoln.

GM&O XML 24166 at Cicero, Illinois on an unknown day in March 1981, photo by Chuck Zeiler. It is stencilled: BLT 7-45 REBLT 5-69. It was reweighed MC. 8.78. According to the October 1971 issue of the Official Railway Equipment Register (ORER), this car was one in series 24000-24589, 40' 6" inside length, 9' 2" wide, 10' 6" height, 3901 cu. ft. capacity.
